Maisie Day Is Not Okay
A downloadable game
Poor Maisie Day is not okay. After returning home from a wild night in the famous flower forest, she realises she's lost her keys. Four keys. You can't skimp on home security.

Armed with a trusty machette (which is like a regular Machete but with extra Tea because we're British) Maisie makes her way through the wilderness; protecting herself from giant Spiders, snakes and humongous snails. Oh, and strange one-eyed monsters. Some disappear with a wave of her blade. Others fight back. Good luck finding all the keys.
Maisie Day is Not Okay is for the ZX Spectrum 48K and may have been inspired by games such as Sabre Wulf.

Thank you for this, here is my tribute...
Sorry I missed this one - thank you so much for sharing :-) Glad you enjoyed the game and hopefully after you recorded the video, you started finding keys. The object randomly appear (and yes, toadstools kill you). That was an interesting life glitch - they don't usually keep re-appearing like that. There are set locations that the keys can turn up in, but these are randomised at the start. You can't kill the snails and snakes, but they should move away from you when you have the sword out). When they flash it's a hint that there is a key either above/below or to the left/right - which can sometimes help.
Thank you again, and hope you have a great Xmas.
Good luck with the next games!
Nice game! Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 03:49:54. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂
thank you for sharing the review - I'll have to give it a watch later as it looks like you covered a lot of games and had fun! Thank you for sharing!
Hey, I hope you don't mind, but I featured your awesome game in my top 50 Spectrum homebrew games of 2025
Thank you for including some of my games; there's been a great selection of games this year and still a couple of months to go. Thank you for sharing!
You are most welcome :)
Great new game. I've also included it in my new video along with other recently released games. Hope you like it.
Thank you for sharing the video - looks like it was another good month for games! Lots of great looking ones in there.
Great game, thanks.
Thank you for sharing the Video. Glad you liked it!
very good
Thank you!
Nice game!
Thank you for the nice comment and for sharing the video.Have a good rest of the week. Thanks!
Congratulations on the new development, mate! It reminds me, essentially, of Sabre Wulf. It controls very smoothly, and I can see how difficult it's going to be to find the keys. Hugs!
Thank you! Yeah it was definitely inspired by it; Sabre Wulf was the 2nd game I played on the Spectrum BITD ... there were more bits I wanted to implement, but ran short of memory for it.
Regarding the keys - their location changes every game (16 possible screens they can be in).
Good luck!
