2024-04-01 Alpha Demo release available

After a productive Easter Bank Holiday weekend, I've now got Shovel Duck II to the playable (alpha) demo stage. And, as such, I'm sharing it.

There are a few glitches and bugs I've seen in this version; but they will be ironed out before the game gets to "final release" state.
(Mostly around occasional graphical glitches and switches being left activated when they should be deactivated).

The alpha demo forms the first level (which aims to ease players into the mechanics of the game... but generally... if it moves, it can kill. If it can be collected, there's probably a reason... and don't leave home without your shovel.

The game itself has a good month's worth of development (or so) left on it (not including play testing and bug fixing) and, as with all these things. Graphics, sound, puzzles etc. are subject to change. (And some areas, like the "between levels bit" will definitely be looked at and redesigned a little. Mostly to add more worms. Everyone likes worms, right? :-) )

Enjoy. Have fun.

Created with MPAGD. Music generated in Beepola. Should work on all 48K Spectrums and all good emulators (that can read the .tap format - which is most of them now.

Apparently I'm a dead duck, I keep dying to the skull barrier thing.

If you mean the spikey red door with a skull on the bottom (like in the 1st and 2nd screenshots) you can walk up to it and push the direction and when it opens you'll walk straight through. (Don't jump into the red bit though, instant death). I might tweak the timing for the final version :-)
