2024-04-30 End of April progress update.

It had to happen. with only 48K to play with I started hitting limits. The game is 90% complete, but to crawl back some memory I've taken to hacking the engine to free up some memory and remove some of the functions I'm not using in the game. I've also (currently) pulled the text instructions from the menu to free up space while I finish the code. Hopefully I'll be able to add a more concise version to take their place; I like there being instructions in-game... If that doesn't work out, I'll include them as a pre-load on the tape before the main game (like I did with my previous game, Money Mouse).

I've also been meddling around with the third level over the past week; not quite as polished yet as I'd like it but it's getting there. The core bits you need to progress to the end of the game (technically the 4th level) are all there now, although I would like to add a couple more screens if memory allows it.

(I'd also like to tweak some of the graphics for some of the characters you get to talk to in the game ... but we'll see what happens)

(There will definitely be some tweaking)

Have spent the last week meddling with the code. Fixing bugs. Creating new bugs. Not liking some of the fixes I'd put in place and reverting (particularly around the player controls).

I currently believe I'm on track to release this as a full game mid to late May 2024 (so next month). A lot will depend on playtesting and how many bugs I've still got to fix.
